NECCA/NECCL Meeting
On 5th January at the Bowburn Arms Hotel, a meeting of the committees of the NECCA and NECCL took place to see if there was any common ground that could be worked on for the future and the good of the sport. Barry Kipling of ScienceinSport, a respected rider who has patronised both leagues this season was also in attendance as an independent observer.

The meeting ended after 90 minutes as there appeared to be little the two parties could agree on. The NECCA continues to believe in offering competition for riders of all abilities, to act as a feeder organisation to British Cycling coaching schemes as well as liasing with CCN, and to allow an organisation within the North East that is able to promote major events such as the North of England Championships and National Trophy Series rounds. The NECCA not only feels that all these aims can only be achieved by remaining loyal to British Cycling, but by its constitution, it remains intrinsically linked to the governing body.

NECCA is also determined to promote events under the proven and reliable insurance cover provided by British Cycling, as opposed to the TLI, and strongly refutes the allegation on the NECCL questionaire that was handed to riders at a round of this seasons NECCL series that any levies raised through North East events go in any way to supporting the British Cycling World Class Performance Plan. Indeed it has been proven that Cyclo-Cross is a net beneficiary of British Cycling.
